The food was delicious--every dish was a hit! The service was attentive, but seating was an issue. Our party of 6 was crammed into a table for 4, and all the plates didn't fit, so we had to stack them like we were auditioning for Jenga: Food Edition. Next time, I'll definitely request a bigger table.

This is an upper scale family style sit down Chinese restaurant with lazy Susan's on the tables for family meals. The restaurant had good business on. Thursday at 6:00 but only medium volume. The decorations/interior are/is very nice. The menu has a good number of options and has good set meal selections for your family or group. There are private rooms available and there is handicapped parking out front. Most of the staff is friendly and efficient, but some of the customers are quite rude. However, when we tired to order an additional dish at the end, the servers were hard to flag down and we had to get a busboy, who was also hard to flag down, to get a server to add to our order. Most in our party enjoyed the fried fish and the steamed fish. The shrimp were a lot smaller for the same dish at other restaurants. The green leaf vegetable had good sauce flavor, but some complained that the vegetables were not fresh. The bamboo dish was just ok and we make it better at home. Overall, some in our party thought the food was just ok and others really enjoyed some of the dishes more than others. We would come back here again and believe they are worth a try.

The place opens at 5pm and already at 4:45pm there's a line forming! Luckily, we got a table when they opened at 5pm and seated in a private room with another table near the back. We were a group of 6, 5 adults one toddler. My aunt ordered a lot of dishes, the place used to serve lunch sized dishes for dinner but has since gotten bigger. Tea is served in a large fancy looking teapot I stead of the white pots I'm used to. We had two orders of the red braised pork, very fatty, sweet and savory, and you can taste a little bit of the cooking alcohol. We also got beef and broccoli, but the beef wasn't as good. Some pieces were a bit chewy while the others were tender so it was a hit or miss. Kung Pao chicken was spicy, however, there were tiny pieces of ginger in it so I only took a bite of the chicken and ate some peanuts. We had other dishes as well however I am not sure the names in English! Restrooms was a bit small, hard to move around and only two stalls. Overall pretty good experience, however there were people waiting to be seated when we left. So come right when they open to get a table!

Been to Red 99 for lunch twice and both times, I've been blown away with the amount of people here, which is a good sign that a lot of people frequent this place. Red 99 is located in the big plaza off Rosemead and has plentyt of parking spots for people. This is a Shanghainese restaurant during lunch. They have a very affordable $11.99 menu for lunch so definitely worth coming to check out. My parents heard from their friends that this place was good so we had to check it out. Unless you come here right when they open at 11:30, you'll probably be waiting for the first batch of people to be done with their lunch, which could take up to 1.5 hours. The food is decent especially for the price. You can't beat $11.99 in this economy which is why a lot of people come here. They serve traditional Shanghainese food and it's actually really good! My parents say it's up to par to the food in Shanghai which says a lot. The only downside is the wait time for a table. There's not that much tables inside so the wait can take a while. If you want to get seated right away, I suggest coming right when they open!

Opens at 11:30a but we arrived at 11:15 and there was already a long line! By the time we entered we had to share a table with another. Inside there are about ten tables for (4) near the entrance and lots of larger (8) to (10) people tables in private rooms or in the rear. We came for the all day specials just $11.99 and if you're interested, some lobster specials for $39.99. We got some braised noodles, pork belly, shrimp and egg, steamed tilapia, tofu, and green beans. Food came by pretty fast. Our party of (4) shared six dishes. Tea, edamame, and tofu miso soup was complimentary at the table.

Love this spot so much!! Such good value. They take reservations. Otherwise, line up before opening! Their tables fill at opening on the weekends. We've ordered tons off their $11.99 menu. It was $9.99 a couple years before and honestly the $2 increase is low compared to other restaurants! Comes with miso soup AND rice!! Must order: Bean curd with pork Shrimp and egg Chili oil fish Mapo tofu Green beans Braised pork belly Kung pao chicken Also great: Tilapia (for the good value) Clams (good value) 3 cup tofu You just know their wok is piping hot and makes everything taste so great! If you have a reservation, they will call you to confirm. We didn't respond the second time they called to re-confirm and I think they removed us so we had to wait 30 mins :/

This place is a hidden gem. Good quality food at a good value. Can't beat $11.99 lunch and dinner special in this economy. Everything we ordered was surprisingly fresh and well seasoned without the heavy use of MSG. They also offer hotpot which is a nice option. Ambiance is modern Chinese and the restaurant is clean. Similar feel to that of Newport Seafood or Boston Lobster. Go early to avoid having to wait. There's also a wait-list on yelp. Food comes out pretty quickly and the service is prompt and efficient. The parking lot is rather large so finding parking isn't an issue. Would definitely recommend for a large family style dinner. (Giving 4 stars because of the limited menu options).
